Away from the keyboard it is mostly travel, an ongoing argument with a house, and an increasingly serious attempt to get good at padel. The same instinct runs through all of it: take the thing apart, see how it works, put it back together slightly better.
Valencia is home base. Before that, long stretches in Japan, Thailand, Romania and the West Country, most of them written up at the time and none of them tidy. Working from anywhere is easy. Being useful from anywhere took practice.
An old house being taken back to the bones, one room at a time, mostly by hand. Renovation turns out to be software architecture with worse tooling: you cannot see the dependencies until you open the wall, and the previous owner left no documentation.
Two years in and still learning that the wall is a teammate. Padel rewards positioning over power, which is an unpleasant lesson for anyone who spent their twenties hitting things hard. Currently working on the bandeja and losing gracefully.
The rack in the cupboard started as a media server and became a small datacentre. Sensors, dashboards, local models, too many single board computers. Some of it is useful, some of it exists because I wanted to know whether it would work.
